I don't know why you call it as "turkish delight". We call as lokum. Yes it's originated in Turkey.
It's normal a bit too sweet for you. It's only made by sugar+water. :)) With some kinds adds rosewater, nut, coconut...
Kid's like it. I don't like it so much too. However I can't reject if it's fresh.
