I might use SET FILTER on the resulting cursor especially in a parent-child-grandchild relationship. I may also use SET FILTER in data processing programs that are not using grids.

Yes, I'm using SET DELETED ON in my applications, so you're right, the implicit filter exists.

If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
