The LA Times had a book review in the Calendar section this morning. The book is from an ex-CIA guy whose first book came out just prior to 9-11 and predicted that US policies abroad, in particular CIA missions, would cause some catastrophic events in the US.
His 3rd book had just come out and he doesn't think the US govt can last too long if bush/cheney are allowed to push thru their "imperial presidency" beliefs. He also thinks the CIA in general is a big problem and that their job should be given to the State dept.
>>>From BBC: "Germany has ordered the arrest of 13 suspected CIA agents over the alleged kidnapping of one of its citizens. Munich prosecutors confirmed that the warrants were linked to the case of Khaled al-Masri, a German national of Lebanese descent. Mr Masri says he was seized in Macedonia, flown to a secret prison in Afghanistan and mistreated there."

>>>The Italian did this a few years ago too.

>>The odds of any of these CIA goones being prosecuted? How about zero.

>It's more of "but we do have an independent judiciary, and we are a sovereign country, and our Kanzler is not a poodle". It's just a message - and probably there are a bunch of CIA guys there at the moment who don't move as casually as they used to. There's a line in the sand now.
