We have Walnut trees in the U.S. I had a few in Fayetteville and when I lived in Oregon there were many huge tracts of land covered with Walnut trees. Most of our pistachios come from Hawaii. I spent far too much time picking walnuts as a matter of fact. We had to pick them up from the ground - they were contained in a greenish outer covering/shell. Delicious though. Some furniture is still made from walnut - not just a veneer on top of another wood. It is very expensive to get anything made of solid walnut though now - much like the cost of cherry.

>>That also looks similar to pistachio, but I'm not sure I tried that.
