So on a simple peer-to-peer 'vista' network, a SHARE'd install folder that was created under Program Files would be off limits to users who wished to store files in child folders of the Shared folder?

>From what I've read, Vista doesn't allow you to write data files to the %programfiles% folder. Only installer programs or administrators can write to that folder. This is a security issue. If we control what programs can write to the %programfiles% folder and only run programs out of the %programfiles% then it is harder to install malicious software surreptitiously.

>I also read that it redirects writes to %programfiles% by programs other than installers to a different folder so they appear to work. If true, I'm not too keen on that "feature".
