When we decided to do this we found it easier to print directly to the printers using TCP/IP. Most laser printers that support networks support this out of the box, and if it doesn't get a $50 printserver gizmo and hang it on the back of the printer. This can be especially helpful if you have to print outside your building (over the net) since TCP/IP is a routeable protocol.
