In my office computer IE7 comes from one of the updates. Thank God, I didn't updated my home computer before that. Now I forbid IE7 to be installed on my home computer.

I can't try right now with IE7, but I think there are some other limitation to access FTP sites, not because of IE7. You could try to write: ftp://ftp.prolib.de/public in your Windows Explorer address bar to see what happens. I am pretty sure that this request goes through IE, but who knows ... :-)
