For those interested in so-called Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) there is an interesting article discussing the use of Flash and Adobe Flex for building UIs, as opposed to AJAX or Java:

From the POV of VFP developers, one interesting resource is a video demonstration of the creation of a basic CRUD (CReate, Update, Delete) form using these tools: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/eckel_video.html#

This video runs for 50 minutes and gives a pretty good idea of the work involved in creating an actual form from scratch. If you have any experience with Visual Studio (especially ASP.NET) it will look somewhat similar. The video gets a bit dull in the middle but if you go to the trouble of watching it go right to the end.

While watching the demo it's interesting to compare the work required to that you would do in creating a similar form in straight VFP or your favourite VFP framework. The touted advantage of Flash/Flex is a UI nominally guaranteed to look and work the same on all platforms/OSs that support Flash, and offer Flash's advanced UI features (the demo shows a Resize effect, which I understand is a trivially simple example).

An interesting option for those considering RIAs that go beyond the limitations of .NET/ASP.NET or the various AJAX or Java options.
