Hi Martin,

I think I am starting to get used to it. It was a shock at first, but it does seem to be getting better.

>Well, I'll tell you my previous notbook was 15.4" and I had it set to a resolution of 1680. It was really small and my eyes are not that great, but the screen was so good that I soon get accustomed. As you say, most websites are meant to be used at a fixed resolution, and you will start to notice the difference between just good-looking and properly designed web sites. I can proudly say that UT fits really good at any resolution now.

>The good thing is that once you get the hang of the increased resolution, you can start using your browser in just a fraction of the screen and still have plenty of space for other stuff. For me the real benefits was while coding. Any modern IDE (from VFP to Exclipse) is greatly improved at high resolutions. You will notice you can dock lots of toolboxes, property sheets, debugging helpers, etc, and still have a giant screen canvas for your code, forms or pages.

>Now I will tell you the bad part of my experience: I switched a couple months ago to a brand new Toshiba laptop with a Core-Duo, 2 Gb of RAM and a wild Nvidia card. I really should LOVE this machine but... the 17" monitor has a maximum resolution of 1440 x 900, and I feel like a bird in a cage now. I had to switch back to horrible things like auto-hide toolboxes or floating windows...

>So enjoy your display, but have in mind that 1680+ resolutions are HIGHLY addictive. <s>
