My understanding is that basically MS bought Fox to kill it, dissect it and keep the parts they liked and throw the rest away. Only problem with that plan was some of the really big corporations who said "Wait a minute, we've got FAR too much in Fox for you to do that.....unless you wanna pay for the rewrite." (or something similar). Regardless, from what I've read about VFP 6.0 and the comments about what was included/not included in the new version, it should be obvious that MS really doesn't give two hoots about what WE want....which, given the history of "We'll do what we damn well please" Bill Gates. does this surprise me?

I've never heard this theory before. It certainly makes sense. Which big corporations are behind FoxPro? Any additional information you can give me in regards to this would be greatly appreciated.

Bill Gates is interested in making money. I would think that if he feels that a software has the potential to make him a great deal of money that he would'nt hesitate to back that product. Other than possible political influences, I don't know what else could be behind Bill Gates' decisions.

I tried to bring a new idea to the subject. If I didn't research well enough, and am just rehashing old ground, I apologize.

I believe that here at UT, there are some that become too emotionally attached to their comments and in general a little too emotional in their responses. I believe the majority of us are looking for a better understanding of the language and where it is headed. Its an ever changing software, which means that positions will be ever changing. New information regarding VFP comes out every day.

I don't think stomping out threads because of one's personal position is very productive.
