You might also make it a single line, until the user click on it (or hovers the mouse over it). Then, make it bigger, potentially covering other objects (control the ZOrder).
Since this is all about making the most of screen space, you might also consider just creating a PageFrame, or adding a Page to an existing PageFrame.
