I agree with your post in general but this line:

As long as there are people in the majority of the countries of the world fighting tooth and nail to relocate to the U.S., you cannot argue that it is not the most desired place to live.

opens a new debate becuase (a) is the majority of immigrants in the world moving to the US, or desiring to (I don't know)? (b) why is the US a destination of their choice? I think this is a complex debate and I am not familiar enough with the topic.

But I certainly agree that if you ask any person in Europe, for example, what country they think is best they are going to say their homeland. And lets face it, the vast majority of those country's populations are not looking to re-locate to any other country even though many have the means to do so.
