I have created a cursor, and made it visible to the user to set their order as they choose. It is visible to them in a grid, and if they click on the header for Home Runs, it sorts by home runs. If they click it again, it sorts by home runs descending. If they move to pitching statistics and click on Innings Pitched, it sorts by that, although leaving batters sorted by HR. When they are satisfied with the sort order, they print it.

Re-selecting a new set of records and refreshing the grid each time is impractical. I already tried that once. Indexes are the best way of doing this.
