C# is one of the codebehind languages you can use when developing ASP (web page) applications in VS.NET.

You can use several other languages, or for that matter use ASP.NET exclusively. Many of these languages can also be used for developing Windows, Console, and Windows mobile applications and services.

C# is a very nicely done object oriented language which IMHO is the easiest to transition to coming from a VFP background. Your mileage may vary.
