>I have a 450GB NAS attached to my home network that stores things like music, pictures, and other assorted stuff. I am trying to think of a good method to back it up. I could get an external hard drive and periodically copy stuff there, but I would still store that in my house, and being the geek that I am I wouldn't mind storing something in my lock box at the bank. CD's are out of the question.

Jeez Mike. "Who guards the guards?" :-)

On a gadget consumer show in England, a year or 2 ago, they tried out every data storage device and subjected them to the most rigoorous of tests: freezing, spending time in a fire, hitting with blunt objects, subjecting to explosives, etc. CD, floppies, HD - the lot.

At the end, the one that actually survived, with all the data intact, was the USB data stick. After stripping off the damaged carcass the chip was OK. SO I'd go for the solid state option. Maybe expensive, but you can buy them incrementally, or go for a more massive option. Then you could have them hanging from your rear-view mirror.
