>>>What about cars Is crazy here in portugal is one of the EU country where cars are more expensive, they have a tax called IA (automobile tax) that is something like 9.x Euros for each cc the engine has, that tax is added to the car price then above that price they do the Vat 21% tax.
>>
>>We pay road fund licence (tax disc) for the car depending on its cc and CO2 emissions, but not when buying!
>>And VAT is 21% there!? I thought it was now 17.5% across the EU (or aren't you a member? :-)
>
>3 or 4 years ago it was 17% then a new government was elected and they said we are in the middle of a crises the previous government took the country almost to a disaster stage, so we will need to raise the IVA that's out the tax is called over here by 2% to 19%, then our prime minister decided that he wasn't gaining enough here so decided to become the EU president, so we had new elections the old party won this time, most of them the same that where in the other government only the prime minister changed, and they now said exactly the same thing, we are in very bad shape there is a crisis in Europe we will need to raise the tax by 2% more but when things get's better we will put it back to the old value, that was almost 2 years ago, still on 21% and not in sight when and if ever the tax will be lower.

>Bottom line is that doesn't matter what party is in power they are all the same, only exist to rob you from the money you earn with hard work.
