>>An unfortunate clumsy key combination has resulted in my IE7 menu and tool bars (including the page tabs) to become separated from the main window, and have become like a task bar at the top of the screen. While at it, my menu, google and yahoo tool bars, although checked as up on the short-cut menu, no longer appear in this "task bar".

Thanks BB

I had looked at that but couldn't find any action that described my situation (this had also disabled my main, bottom taskbar).

However, the closest I could see was:

"Toggle between full-screen and regular views of the browser window" - F11

So I hit F11 and that worked. Strange though as my knackwurst were nowhere near the fn keys when the screen display changed, there is no alternative key combo listed and, as this is the first time I've seen IE7 in this state (i.e. with tabs and some toolbars still showing but as a taskbar), I didn't recognise it as such. Funny, I've just toggled the state again and this time my main taskbar works as usual
