This is interesting. I typically use a mouse at work and the touchpad (mostly I point using the joystick in the center of the keyboard though with my index finger and only use the touchpad to 'click' with my thumb) at home. I just tested it at work and both the logitech mouse I plugged in (USB) and the touchpad are active. So I went to Dell's support site and found the driver to download for the D610 (Alps GlidePoint/Stick/Pointer Drviers):

R113813.EXE

and, BINGO! :O)

I passed the information on to my coworkers. Thanks Dan!

>>I use the touchpad--but only on airplanes :-) I always use an external keypad and mouse at home or in the office and carry a mouse in the laptop case.

>One of my favorite features in the current crop of Dells is a driver that disables the touchpad whenever a mouse is plugged in. Otherwise, I'm forever tapping the touchpad, effectively a mouseclick, and sending the cursor all over the screen EXCEPT where I'm typing.
