The SSMS 2005 RTM/SP1 doesn't show objects for the linked servers. It'll be fixed in upcoming SP2.

Update: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 has been realesed http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=d07219b2-1e23-49c8-8f0c-63fa18f26d3a&displaylang=en&tm

Update 2: I installed SP2 and objects can be viewed now for a linked server

>We are trying to create a Sql Server linked server to a Visual Foxpro free table directory. We are able to input the linked server information and create the entry but none of the tables appear to be in the newly created linked server.
>
>We are using MS Sql Server Management Studio(2005). We create the new linked server by expanding the 'Server Objects' node and right clicking on 'Linked Servers'. We choose the MS OleDb Provider for VFP with a data source of 'C:\data\' and a provider string of 'VFPOLEDB.1'.

>The entry is created, however, instead of seeing a list of the tables in c:\data\, nothing is displayed as being a part of the linked server.

>What could we be doing wrong? The Sql Server is on the local PC, the tables are on the local drive. What am I missing as far as setting up the linked server?
