>>Cetin, sorry for having CC-ed you some (not all) times. However, your opinion was not clear to me. What was clear was that you do not use IMPORT. The other statements ("do not see it as a big deal", "always suggested not to use IMPORT") were not made by you in this thread so far. Because I too never (can't remember having) used the IMPORT command, I did not exclude the possibility that you too find it interesting to get an explicit answer from Aleksey Tsingauz. Afterall, we are here not only purely for our own interests, aren't we?!

>>Having said that, I have my thoughts about reactions like 'no big deal' and the apparent lack of reactions by others here. These words were not directly or only aimed at you, by the way, so please don't take this personally.

>OK Peter no problem. In a nutshell, I do not suggest to use IMPORT, append from ... type xl*, copy to ... type xl*, opendatasource with mailmerge, MsGraph whatever the Office version is (IOW they're version/installation dependant and broken with Office upgrades/uninstallation).

I understand your advice. But up till recently we could expect upgrades from vfp that had added support for newer versions of Windows, MS Office and the like. If it is really true, from this date, that MS will no longer upgrade such commands, then they are silently, but effectively, KILLING vfp!

I can understand a strategy that says that SOME features are no longer supported, as they did with @ SAY, for example. But other features are too important for me or others. I'm eager to get an answer from Aleksey about the scope of their strategy.

Sorry for having used you to express this to, essentially, all others too. :)
Groet,
Peter de Valença
