I am really very uninitiated in the subject of VPN Client and Remote Desktop so pardon me for these naive questions.
A customer wants me to connect to their network using VPN Client (for updates, maintenance, etc). I installed the Cisco VPN Client program they sent me. Then I open this client and connect. And nothing happens. So I sent an email to the customer IT guy asking him what to do next. He replies to use Remote Desktop to connect to the server.
I have another customer where I connect to their server using Remote Desktop but not VPN.
My question is, why in one case (customer 1) I need VPN before I can use Remote Desktop and the other case (customer 2) I can do with Remote Desktop without VPN?
Second question. I installed VPN on Win2000 computer which I don't think has Remote Desktop. Can Remote Desktop be downloaded and installed on Win2000 PC?
Thank you.
