I don't know if this will help, but I just saw a tip in the July 1998 issue of Foxpro Advisor that may bear on your problem. It has to do with creating files such as you are doing both inside and otside the database. The tip is rather lengthy so it would be best if you can get a copy of FA. However, if you can't let me know and I'll try and type in most of it. One thing it warns about is if you are creating the new table as a free table from a database table, long field names are truncated and can cause some weird problems. HTH
