Hi Jess:
I have tested several scenarios of sharing 2.6 tables with VFP, and found some unexpected things.
1) You can take a 2.6 table and copy it with no special parameters, and it converts the header to a VFP table. But if you say "TYPE FOX2X", then it stays FP-2.6 compatible.
2) You can open a FP 2.6 table with VFP and PACK it, and it STAYS FP 2.6 !! Surprise!!
3) You can create a new table using VFP and just use the "TYPE FOX2X" syntax to make that table be a FP 2.6 table.
So, the only thing I can think of is that you must be trying to add the FP 2.6 free table to your VFP database (DBC) -- which will ALWAYS change the file header to be VFP. If this is so, just "USE" the table like in the "old" days, and it should be fine.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Rob
