He has successfully annoyed Germans, Belgians, Welsh, and people from most of the Western European nations by creating shows that explore stereotypes about them. But apparently his show is watched by 350,000,000 people around the world, so I suppose he has the same sort of appeal as Howard Stern. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Clarkson for further examples.

>>>The movie "Borat" did some of the same. I don't know how it has done in NZ but it has been a phenomenom here. The character Borat, who is an alter ego of the British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen (another is Ali G), basically goes around duping people into making a**es of themselves in front of a camera.

I haven't see the movie yet (figured it's not one you need the giant screen for and so can get out on DVD) but I've seen loads of Borat sketches and skits on TV, inc. the "Shove the jew down the well" song, which he did on TV. Not sure if these were different dupes in the bar or the same clip, as in the film.
