So where is this information specifically in reference to IMPORT and APPEND FROM that you mention in your response to Peter? I've been reading FoxPro Advisor for 10+ years, same with FoxTalk, and I've been on the UT for 10 years or so and I'm really just seeing this anti-IMPORT, anti-APPEND FROM attitude for the first time, AFAIK. Sure, using ODBC, OLE-DB, or automation is possible, but I'm sure you haven't forgotten that speed is an important issue and VFP is known for that. Those other options, though I use them at times, are slow. I actually don't use IMPORT in apps at all, if memory serves, but do use APPEND FROM at times and do use COPY TO, also. I do use IMPORT for ad hoc work in the Command window. These commands are not a big part of my apps, but they work reliably and quickly. Is it time to change? Perhaps, but I can't say I'll be all that excited about the slowness of the other options as well as the other problems that go along with them. And I can't say that I've seen anything from MS or others suggesting IMPORT, APPEND FROM, etc. should not be used. Does the help file say "included for backward compatibility" on any of these? Does it say these commands have been deprecated? Can you show me an article specifically about not using these commands and what to replace them with? Maybe they've appeared, but I don't remember them if they did. I'd wager there are a whole lot of people still using these commands. They work, they're fast, and MS hasn't done much, if anything, to steer anyone away from these commands, so don't look down your nose at people who still use them.
