Mike,
>With practically the whole development team gone, even Calvin now, it hardly seems likely there will be a VFP 10 or beyond.
There are different degress of "gone"...
For a good while, some of the core VFP guys have been working on other things, along with their continued routine work on VFP. YAG explained this pretty well in my FoxTalk interview with him and Ken in June 2005:
http://foxcentral.net/microsoft/VFPDevCon2005_Interview_AlanGriver_KenLevy.htmIn that interview, YAG explained that he was using Fox resources with the .NET Data team, and also using some .NET data people with VFP, managing them as one large group whose capabilities could help each other. Calvin and others did a lot of preliminary work on what became the LINQ feature for .NET.next and from what I understand they are continuing to work part time with VB.NET development.
However, SOMEONE is still working on VFP Sedna and VFP9 SP2 (that involves C++ stuff) and SOMEONE is still handling research on customer bug reports (you might want to note that Calvin has recently mentioned on his blog some customer-reported problems that he has been working on:
http://blogs.msdn.com/calvin%5Fhsia/).
Clearly, he is not *gone*. However, I would guess that his time is split between various things, some VFP-related and some not, and that his time will probably be more focused on VFP during the coming months leading up to release of Sedna and SP2.
As for "final" support date, the currently-stated extended support expiration is in 2015, if I remember correctly. It originally was 2014 for VFP9, but was extended a bit when SP1 released. It might be extended again when SP2 shows up, but I don't have any definitive info on that.
