Recently I've been taking part in a project converting VFP application from using native tables (DBF) to using remote views (SQL Server 2005; SQL Native Client).

There were no substantial issues during the conversion. Moreover, some users, seeing virtually no visual changes in the application and the way it behaved when converted, asked whether the conversion had really happened.

Parametrized remote views were mostly used with only a few exceptions when SPTs seemed to be a better option.
