I have a solution. I am using Dragan's suggestion to assign the recordsource and controlsources for the grid after the grid instantiates. This eliminates the need for an object that will instantiate before the grid instantiates. This solution is consistent with the principles stated by many of you: do not rely on instantiation order and 1 object in a container should not have internal knowledge of another object in the container.
