Hi,

We're looking at various deployment options for a WinForms app that requires SQL Server Express 2005. As a simple test I created a Setup Project and added SQL Express to the prerequisites list using the 'Download from Component Vendors web site' option.

When I try to install on a new clean XP Pro OS the .Net Framework downloads and installs OK, the SQL Express downloads OK but then fails on the install. The relevant bit in the install log is:

Does anyone know why this fails (I can post the entire log file if it might help)?

UPDATE: Looks as if it may be because Windows Installer is not installed. I'll try adding that......
