But other people aren't making a mint out of it, and globe-trotting (thus increasing the C footprint). Take Lovelock (author of Gaia - ), for instance. He lives in quiet circumstances in the British countryside and tries to practice what he preaches.
>>>
>>>Ah, but then you make his point. I've heard Al Gore and his message, but I've never heard of Lovelock, so how much of a splash is he really making by sitting around in his quiet circumstances?

>>You surprise me, Alan
>>
>>He's only the originator of the Gaia Hypothesis/theory and author of at least 3 best-selling books on it:

>I'll check him out, but in the meantime, where was he doing all this preaching and informing? The local pulpit? If he was travelling to do it, was he travelling everywhere by bicycle?

Well I've seen him several times on TV (most lately stating that our only chance is to forget about renewable energy and get nuclear poer stations on-line asap. - oh, and that GB will be super overcrowded as one of the few inhabitable countries in the world when the waves start crashing in). And his books, which you should find in ANY booskstore, were originally recommended to me back in the 80s, after I'd been spouting my own Gaiaesque theories (not knowing of his), well before the world go sooooo serious about this.

I don't keep details of Lovelock's itineraries.

Maybe more people HAVE heard of Gore's film than Lovelock's books, cos he heap big man, make film - and Lovelock you need to read. (I have one of his books lavishly illustrated though, covering just about EVERYTHING that the bleaters bleat about. Diagrams can bring the facts home to you again and again, whereas the film is over in 90 mins)

OTOH, I think you might be surprised at just how many people DO know Gaia!

??????????? Any takers? ?????????????????????

>I'd be willing to bet that in any poll, you'd find the number of people aware of Gore and his message tremendously outmasses those aware of Lovelock and his message. The question is not about who should be more admired, it's about who is best getting the message out. I submit it's Gore. If he has to use fuel to do it, then that's just the way it is.
