In my program (MFC or VC++.net), I have an Excel class that automates Excel to save the test result in the Excel file. I feel like it would be better to save the test data to real database file (say dbc in foxpro with tables) and manipulate the data using foxpro. But, I have to create an application first to show my boss that this is a better way in the long run.

Sam,
I don't quite understand. Set an OleDbConnection using VFPOLEDB driver and do what you want. If it's easier for you to use SQL server you could instead use SQLServer express.
I don't see at what point you have a problem (I don't use MFC if it's specific to it).
