I think, Sam, that your approach is the one that lets unsavoury characters and plain evil-doers go right on doing what they do, accumulating more and more ($$$, power) along the way.
Angry and bitter *could* turn into action some day. Simple disappointment is generally a personal matter that involves no one else and leads to retention of the status-quo.
And don't say you get your chance at election time, because you don't. At election time you are more manipulated than between elections. Your "free will" is scientifically guided in certain directions without you even knowing it.
