Here's some feedback from the corn state...

Ethanol plants are starting to go up everywhere. These are giving people good jobs in areas where on secretarial and manual labor jobs existed before. This move is driving up corn prices, which is helping out farmers. It is also making it more expensive for cattlemen, but that's another story. Everybody is optimistic, and from a farmboy who now works in agricultual finance, it's a good time for everyone.

However, there are also disadvantages. Now there is money to be made in farming, which will bring the corporations eventually, this will drive the little man out of business, and force him to work for somebody instead of himself. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It will happen.
