It can be done but...

When VFP 3.0 came out it took everyone in our user group three attempts before we had a usable framework. I still use mine (updated) for quick projects. I have used many commercial frameworks and for me Visual MaxFrame Professional is my favorite. Each commercial framework has some advantages and disadvantages over another.

Are you going to be paid to develop a framework? It takes hundreds of hours. There are several advantages to a good commercial framework:

1. It is ready to use allowing you to complete projects quickly.

2. The company that developed the framework will address issues and updates saving you time to program.

3. Commercial frameworks have forums on the Internet where you will receive as well as answer questions from users.

If you develop your own framework you get to chase and resolve bugs, create updates and determine how to get the job done. A commercial framework pays for itself in just a matter of hours compared to doing it yourself.
