SQL Server 7.0 is very impressive. It is faster than 6.5, has much better replication and is a lot easier to maintain. It also runs on Windows 95. This means you can take a copy of your data on your laptop and still use SQL Server. VFP 6.0 doesn't make any significant changes to the data engine so I think you can really compare SQL 7.0 to VFP 5.0. I would expect to see a lot more people using SQL Server 7.0 as a back end where they would previously have used VFP or JET.
