The "posher" chickens, costing more, are possibly fed corn (they have a nice orangy glow to them). Others are fed any old sh!te, including fish scraps (sometimes you can detect a fishy flavour in their flesh). Generally, though, like most birds they are omnivorous. You've never seen a chicken scratching in the dirt for insects and grubs?
