I ran this one by my daughter yesterday, the one who likes puzzles, and she just about got it. Her solution was the same except she said hold your hair next to the two unlit bulbs (instead of putting your hand on them).
This was during the lunch break at a volleyball tournament and somehow the discussion went on to a new TV show called "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" I haven't seen the show but what a hilarious concept. According to those around the table who have seen it, we adults should have reason for concern (LOL).
