I think there'll still be a 7 and maybe even an 8. By the time it happens though, I don't really think it'll matter much. VB & VFP get closer with each release and in the long run, I basically think all of VFP's functionality will be available in VB. (Yes, here we go again, Visual FoxBasic.)At that point, we'll all know OOP, data access and database design better than the majority of the people currently working in VB, and we'll code circles around them. I just hope that there's actually some kind of realistic migration path for existing applications.

You are pessimistic in the sense, sorry to say it, but that's the sense of your message. It is MS that did say 10% of VS users are using VFP which is beyond their expectations and it's growing further. Looking at UT Forum alone, lots of beginners are coming in, and most of them are FP, DBASE, CLIPPER guys.

>I basically think all of VFP's functionality will be available in VB...

It sounds like VFP has better functionality than VB, but the reality is VB has been around since early 90's as compare to VFP which is mid 95.

>>Foxpro gets better with every new release, and VFP5/6 is uncomparable with let say 2.0, right?

>Yes, but if you look at how much the other VS tools were enhanced compared to 6.0, you can see where the money is going.
