I had forgotten that - In all other countries in Europe (as far as I know and what I saw there) the speed limit signs were in kph!
>Sure mph. We've gomne metric but not daft! :-)
>
>(It would be too costly to convert all the road signs in UK to klicks)
>
>>I'm assuming you mean mph and not kph, right? Since 70kph would only be around 43mph but 70mph would be around 112kph...

>>>>As I'm sure you know, the interstate highways were designed to be safe at 70 mph. Good luck getting up to that speed in some urban areas, of course.
>>>>
>>>>I give a wide berth to the guys (and they are always guys, aren't they?) who drive 100+ and weave in and out of traffic. Half of them are wasted and the other half are bombs waiting to go off. I don't want to be close enough to join them in paradise.
>>>
>>>And half of them are being filmed by a chopper for "The World's Scariest Police Videos" or whatever it's called?
>>>
>>>In the UK the speed limit on motorways is 70. But generally the avge speed of the traffic is c. 80, many do 90, with a few in Beemers and Merks zooming past at >100. It seems the police turn a blind eye to 80 (as they'd have to pull over half the traffic).
