Yes Patrick I think that also, have beeing saying that since the last Devcon I assist in Palm Springs that's when I saw the writing on the wall.
Now remember that more and more .net is present on the operating system and in the future COM may even disapear from the OS (the .net framework is just the next level of COM+) and when that happens an ydevelop language will need to have her own runtime that can't depend on the OS, Microsoft bet on .NET so makes sense in that way that the only develop lanuages they have are the ones that work with the .net framework.

>For the software package I work on, 90% of the employees here, do 80% of there daily activities in the one app. When this app was introducted to this company they were using open office with plans to move their Win95/98 machines to Linux. This one app kept this business on Windows, mostly XP Pro now, and because the app was designed to integrate with Office they purchased Office for everyone that uses it. And because everyone has office they may as well use exchange for their email server. And because they out grew dbfs SQL server has been purchased.

>The IT department here was determined to never buy from MS again. One good app can change everything. I do not think this is a special or rare case. I do think MS has a decent idea how much indirect revenue VFP generates and is taking a calculated risk that most remaining VFP developers will go the .NET route.

>>Not being argumentative or anything but isn't that sort of a special case? A company that stays with Windows and Office just to run one Windows app? Most shops are still Windows despite the tiny bites of market share Linux and Apple have. Those places would be using Windows and Office whether they had a custom FoxPro app or not.
