Microsoft chooses which products to promote, which to maintain, and which to drop based on market share and cost-benefit analysis, just like any other rationally managed business. It's not like they were out to get us.

Well, when the whole picture is considered it is like they were out to get us.

For instance, and without having a clue as to its veracity, you assume that a "cost-benefits analysis" was done. That seems highly dubious considering that there were less than 10 people on the VFP Team at any one time (supplemented periodically by contractors) and Microsoft knows that there are 10s of thousands of VFP programmers out there and that VFP is integral to more than 10s of thousands businesses.
There is also the fact that any business running a VFP application HAS TO HAVE WINDOWS and likely has Office installed too. Some of them undoubtedly have SQL Server installed as well.

Yes, it's Microsoft's product and they can do whatever they like with it. And they don't even have to explain it to anyone. But let it not be **US** who just lets them off the hook MAKING UP REASONS for their "business decision".

The simpler case, from both a cost and obligation point-of-view, is to keep developing VFP. Very little cost and tens of thousands who benefit by it. And preserving Windows installs without lifting a finger.
