At the last MVP summit, 18 months ago, it was clear to me that VB is all about Rapid Application Development (RAD) and C# is all about those who like to pound out code. Both expose capabilities in the .Net framework, including LINQ. I have seen stuff at this summit that solidifies that even more.
This does not mean that choosing C# is a mistake. It just means that the VB team is doing a better job of creating a RAD tool and embracing the community like the Fox team has done for years. You'll be able to use the same features of the Framework with both C# and VB.
