With more and more applications moving to the web, is there a reason you're concerned about .net?

>My main concern about .NET is that, despite some projects like Mono, it still seems oriented more towards Windows. Of course, the same problem applies to VFP, but if I were to learn a new language, I would prefer something that is really multi-platform, like Java or Python, to name just a few examples.
