>But one thing we can all agree on. The history of VFP is rich with an entrepreneurial spirit that should not only be remembered, but carried forward by all of us.

>For me, it started in 1988

I came in the same year, when I was invited to start a company with a few other people. We started it next spring, and the first week we were deciding between Turbo Pascal and Fox.

The rest is history. That company had about 200 customers within three years. We installed new machines in places where the electricity and phones weren't touched since the fifties. Our first payroll package was installed in a huge mill, and the first printout was unsuccessful only because a mouse went into the printer and chewed the cables.

This company spawned, amoeba mode, four or five other companies. At least the first five years, it was the same spirit as here on UT.

I was lucky to be attracted by the things that attract my kind of people. In the 60s-70s, it was art photography. In the 80s, it was SF and home computers. In the 90s and later, it was Fox, and will stay so for quite a while. I somehow have the impression that it's the same tribe over and over, just being reincarnated of the next focal point. The luck consists of just having my nose pointed in the right direction at the right time, the rest flows naturally.
