I 'came back and snipe' because I saw this coming for quit a while now. I have been using Foxpro excusively for about 17 years, since the very first dos version (when it wasn't at Microsoft yet), and when I say 'a good old friend' I mean it. I still use VFP but there will be no new projects anymore. I just jumped back in for a little while because I know how dedicated the community was and to see it's reaction (the reaction is exactly as expected). Instead of making the right decision and look for something else (for me it was C#), there are a lot of emotions coming round.
For me (V)FP has been superior for a long time but today it has been catched up.

About the tortuous language C# : I think it has a VERY clean model and I like it very much, but it's clearly a matter of taste.

Python, maybe OpenLaszlo, maybe >RealBasic, maybe VB.NET : I really can't understand why these are considered as an alternative. I think we evolve to only 2 choices (like it or not) : Java or .net, the rest will have the same scenario as VFP (simply take a look at the job offers)
