Yes, indeed, I change grid.recordsource -- after which I add all my columns. I can see the column headings, I can verify that the grid.recordsource points to a non-empty cursor, but see no records.

I've never heard of SET NEAR; having looked at the documentation, I'm pretty sure that's not the issue. Part of my grid creation process is to GOTO TOP (this on a non-empty non-filtered cursor.)
