The good news far outweighs the bad: Sedna released as open source (which ensures that as .Net evolves, interoperability with .Net inside VFP can evolve), and that MS support means fixing compatibilities with OS changes for the life of the product. That there will be no VFP10 is not exactly news. MS kept its options open, that's all, but the handwriting has been on the wall for a couple of years.
