After that, the villains have about two seconds to do something which makes the present two cops stop thinking about backup and react immediately.
Now the most important factor in the further development of the situation is the time. If it's five minutes before the closing credits, they'll make it. If it's fifteen or more, it'll get complicated. Anywhere in between, toss a coin.
