>Yep, since foxpro 1.0 at least, maybe even foxbase. I think getdir() came along in 1 or 2. set defa to getd() was helpful. I was thinking CD came to be in 6 though.

I just popped open FoxPro 2.6 and CD doesn't work. The Hacker's Guide for 6.0 seems to indicate you are right about the version:

"CD, MD and RD may have been our favorite new commands in Visual FoxPro (they were certainly the easiest to learn!)."
