Fair enough and I am not totally against using ad hoc queries but i do feel that using Stored procedures is a much better coding practice. To me it simplifies data access by providing a uniform interface.

Using Stored procedures also makes life much easier for n-tiered apps. If you decide to move to a web interface or a new front end then alot of the work is already done.
